Meet Dr. Amit Patel

Board Certified in Family Medicine

Dr. Amit Patel is a dedicated primary care physician with a passion for providing thoughtful, comprehensive healthcare to individuals and families across Western North Carolina.  Dr. Patel emphasizes patient-centered care that balances evidence-based treatment with a deep understanding of each patient’s unique health journey.

After graduating from Ross University School of Medicine with High Honors, Dr. Patel completed his residency in Family Medicine at East Tennessee State University- Johnson City, where he served as chief resident and was voted by faculty as most outstanding resident out of his graduating class.  While at ETSU,  Dr. Patel developed special interests in chronic disease management, preventive care, and patient education.  After residency, Dr. Patel returned to Asheville and was with a local community medicine practice until 2024. 

Dr. Patel is known for his approachable manner, clinical expertise, and commitment to building long-term relationships with his patients. Whether you're coming in for a routine exam or navigating a complex health issue, Dr. Patel takes the time to listen, explain, and partner with you in achieving your wellness goals.

Outside the Office:
Originally from Asheville, Dr. Patel always wanted to end up in his home town to practice medicine. When he’s not seeing patients, he enjoys hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains, cooking with his family, and exploring the vibrant local community.

What to Expect:

At your first visit, we’ll take time to get to know you and your medical history, review any medications, and discuss your health goals.

What to bring:

- A valid photo ID

- Insurance card (if applicable)

- List of medications or current prescriptions

- Any previous medical records you’d like us to review

Insurance & Billing:

We accept most major insurance plans. If you have questions about coverage, feel free to call our office before your visit.

  • Are you accepting new patients?
    Yes! AVL Primary Care is currently welcoming new patients. Please click on the portal tab in the upper right corner to set up a new patient appointment.
  • Do you offer same-day or next-day appointments?
    We offer same-day and next-day appointments for urgent concerns whenever possible. Call early in the day for the best availability.
  • What if I need to see a specialist?
    If your care requires a specialist, we’ll help coordinate referrals and work closely with other providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • How do I request a prescription refill?
    Call our office or use our patient portal to request a refill. Please allow 24–48 hours for processing.
